Annual Conference Recap - Tuesday, June 13

Worshipful Work
The morning began with worship music and an inspiring bible study on the Divine Economy of Abundance led by Rev. John Edgar. The plenary session began with Bishop Fairley issuing the call to order, and the presentation of Mission Insight by Tom Bandy. Reports followed on New Church Development and Strengthening the Black Church for the 21st Century. Rev. Paul Brunstetter was recognized for his years of service as Director of New Church Development.  Other reports included the Children’s Home, Equitable Compensation, The Thailand Methodist Mission and Cokesbury.
 
Camp & Retreat Ministry
Bishop Fairley spoke on the importance of our camping ministries, which are the focus of our Mission Offering this year. Warren Hopper, Executive Director of Camp and Retreat Ministries, shared a Connectional Ministries Disciple Making Road map that shows how our ministries are with you throughout your Christian journey. Warren also shared information about Camping & Retreat ministries.
 
 
Church Beyond: The Church has Left the Building!
Six Hundred forty-three United Methodists participated at over 19 service sites throughout Bowling Green during our Church Beyond: An Afternoon of Service and Learning. Projects ranged from visiting retirement homes, landscaping, children’s activities, workshops on forming faith communities and putting together Health kits for UMCOR. This year, over 2,000 health kits were assembled!
 
“Touching Grace” Missions Service
Soleila Gonzalez led our Welcome and Call to Worship, calling us to enter into the Lord’s gates with thanksgiving. Our Camping Ministries were highlighted in a video and our mission offering was collected for these ministries. Bishop Fairley introduced our speaker, Rev. John Edgar, who preached on “Touching Grace”.
