2022 Special Session of the Kentucky Annual Conference - Information

December 4, 2022 ONLINE
3 p.m. EST / 2 p.m. CST

DOCUMENTS FOR THE SPECIAL SESSION

Shortly after Annual Conference this year, Bishop Fairley called a Special Conference of the Kentucky Annual Conference for the sole purpose of completing the process of disaffiliation of churches who have met the requirements outlined in paragraph
2553 in The Book of Discipline. The Special Session of the Kentucky Annual
Conference
will be held online Sunday, December 4 at 3 p.m. EST/ 2 p.m. CST.

We have a letter from Bishop Fairley as well as basic information about the online
gathering of the Special Session. Please take time to read everything, as there are
deadlines that need your attention. You will find important information on how to
participate in this Conference as well as what to expect as a participant in this online format.

Whether you are a first-time member of Conference or have been attending for many
years, we invite you to join us in prayer as we begin preparing ourselves for this
special session of the Kentucky Annual Conference. Please don’t hesitate to contact
us with any questions.

Grace and Peace,
Rev. Darren Brandon

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE CONFERENCE BEING ONLINE

1) HOW TO PARTICIPATE IN ANNUAL CONFERENCE:
Each member of the Conference will need to have access to the internet by either a
smart phone, tablet or computer to fully participate. Please begin to make
arrangements now to have this accessibility. If you do not have adequate internet
service or a device to participate, please contact your District Superintendent for
possible options.

Note: If you are able to have access to two devices with internet access – one to engage the AC session and one for voting – it might be easier but it is not necessary.

2) VOTING ID:
Each clergy and lay member of the Annual Conference will receive a unique voting
code
that will allow them access to the voting process and will secure their vote.
These voting IDs will be sent just prior to the Special Session through your unique
email address.

Please be on the lookout for this information. Do not share your individual voter
ID
with anyone. While there will be electronic records of votes taken, the KAC
Program and Arrangements Team, Secretary of the Annual Conference, and Bishop
have determined that no access to individual voting records will be granted to
the Annual Conference or its officers. Aggregate information will be used to
announce vote results, but individualized records will remain the property of the
voting service provider.

WHAT YOU CAN ANTICIPATE DURING THE CONFERENCE

1)WORSHIP
As we gather for our time together there is a lot of emotion. We anticipate blessing,
lament and hopefulness as we gather in Christ’s name. Let us begin now centering in God’s presence each day trusting that we will be met with grace.

2) ONE ITEM OF BUSINESS
The Special Session is convened for one purpose, “completing the process of
disaffiliation of churches who have met the requirements outlined in paragraph
2553 in The Book of Discipline.”

3)SPANISH INTERPRETATION/TRANSLATION
Spanish interpretation will be provided for this online Special Session. In order to
help us in our planning, please register as soon as possible.
