“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:6-7
According to author Joel J. Miller, the Bible is Kindle’s most highlighted book. And Philippians 4:6-7 is the most highlighted passage. These two verses describe what most folks seem to want - peace - and they tell us how to obtain it
Without the peace of Christ, we experience so much anxiety. Will my loved ones be safe? Will I be able to pay for my children’s college education? Will the stock market crash? Will some devastating disease ruin someone I love, physically and financially? Is there some foreign or domestic terrorist about to wreak havoc with society? And the list goes on. The Apostle Paul tells us to “not be anxious about anything.” After all, anxiety and peace cannot reside in the same place.
Now go ahead and read verses 8 and 9. The passage concludes, “And the God of peace will be with you.” When the God of peace is for you and with you, you will sleep much better tonight and smile much more tomorrow.
